I’ve taken a couple of online courses with Carole Finn and will definitely take more. Initially, I was skeptical about taking an online course, but quickly found it to be an effective way to learn. Carole is a talented artist who is eager to share her knowledge and is open-handed with her time. Equally important, she knows how to use technology as a delivery and teaching tool to maximize the learning experience. In addition to several hours of group learning each week, there is ample one-on-one instruction and plenty of feedback. Thanks to Carole I have a much better understanding of colour, values and perspective, and have sharpened my observational skills.

Carole is a huge book of knowledge on all things art and very generous with sharing that knowledge. Through her online teaching course she worked with each of us to create a painting from our individual reference of choice, breaking the process into manageable steps. We had both beginners and experienced students in our class. We all learned a great deal regarding colour, colour mixing, matching values in theory, as well as relating them to each painting in the class, as a group and individually. I have taken in-studio and on-line classes and I feel I learned more from Carole's online course. Carole is an encouraging and pleasant teacher. A side benefit is that you get to work from home, so can paint any time of day or into the night, and don't have to pack and unpack your supplies.

I had the opportunity to take an online painting course with Carole Finn. Having never painted and having marginal computer skills, I found Carole's methods of teaching using Zoom both with the larger group and individually were very effective. I was able to learn from the other artists but Carole gave individualized feedback about my painting as I progressed. My goal was to learn about colour and perspective. During the course I learned about the colour wheel, how to mix paints to make the required colour, look carefully at details, and composition. Learning to paint is an ongoing process. I would take another course with Carole in the future to continue to develop my skills. Carol was more than generous with her time, her vast knowledge and encouragement.
