Hi ! EVERYBODY.. .....I am Carole Finn the artist

Most of my life was spent in Ontario. There I was a mother, a skier, a horsewoman,a retailer, a passionate cook, a gardener, a curator , a fundraiser . a community organizer. In 1998 my husband developed Alzheimer's and died 10 years later. Life slowly made new paths for me to follow. At 67 I took up my brush again and began a career as a professional artist . My home for my new passion was the Finn Arttists' Centre , a lovely historic Manse in a little town called Minden, Ontario. After a trip down the Pacific Coast on a sailing ship called the "Maple Leaf" I fell in love with the west coast and determined to make it my home. I now live in Sooke Vancouver Island in a little place of beauty that looks over Juan De Luca Strait to the American Olympic Mountains. At 86 I am still driven by new possibilities in the next painting and the joy that comes from bringing it to life.

PROFESSIONAL ARTIST

began in 2007. In 2010 I became an elected member of Ontario Society of Artist(OSA). The Finn Artists' Centre in Minden, Ontario was the home of carolefinnartist. It was a gallery, a studio and a busy teaching facility in an historic Manse. In 2021 I moved to Victoria,BC and was elected as a Senior member of the Federation of Canadian artists (SFCA)

In my paintings, I manipulate images to convey envisioned stories. Using the reimagined subject, I am free to apply my own version of composition, values, and vibrant colors to create the drama of the scene. Utilizing Photoshop, I play with the design intricacies of the landscape or the animals. I paint to enrich the narrative. This blend of reality and fantasy forces me to explore my approach to my painting style and concept in order to convey the atmosphere and concept within each piece.

"Gull's World" OTE Federation Gallery Exhibition Granville Island

Tension is created in this scene by contrasting the calmness of the sunset with the energy of the crashing waves below. The same applies to the gulls themselves. The image of this graceful bird is jarring when paralleled with a very different image of a squawking bird fighting for garbage.
