Hi ! EVERYBODY.. .....I am Carole Finn the artist
Most of my life was spent in Ontario. There I was a mother, a skier, a horsewoman,a retailer, a passionate cook, a gardener, a curator , a fundraiser . a community organizer. In 1998 my husband developed Alzheimer's and died 10 years later. Life slowly made new paths for me to follow. At 67 I took up my brush again and began a career as a professional artist . My home for my new passion was the Finn Arttists' Centre , a lovely historic Manse in a little town called Minden, Ontario. After a trip down the Pacific Coast on a sailing ship called the "Maple Leaf" I fell in love with the west coast and determined to make it my home. I now live in Sooke Vancouver Island in a little place of beauty that looks over Juan De Luca Strait to the American Olympic Mountains. At 86 I am still driven by new possibilities in the next painting and the joy that comes from bringing it to life.

Artistic Mission-Create works that celebrate Canada's wild, natural spaces. and its inhabitants
“My paintings, which are done in series, are an attempt to show beautiful locations whose natural integrity has either been altered by human intervention or is about to be. What is the cost our imposition on the virginal status of these lands and the inhabitants therein?”

Tension is created in this scene by contrasting the calmness of the sunset with the energy of the crashing waves below. The same applies to the gulls themselves. The image of this graceful bird is jarring when paralleled with a very different image of a squawking bird fighting for garbage.
