Canadian artist Carole Finn is a passionate advocate for celebrating and safeguarding Canada’s wild, natural spaces. Throughout her career as an artist and art educator, she has played a pivotal role in establishing one of Canada’s renowned art colleges, the Haliburton School of Art and Design. She also founded a public art gallery with the mission of introducing art and engaging with the surrounding community, and she helped incubate various art groups that eventually formed the Haliburton County Arts Council.

In 2009, after receiving the Queen's Jubilee Medal and several other awards for her work, Finn finally pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a full-time professional artist. She drew on her years of study at OCAD, York University Fine Arts in Toronto, and her beloved HSAD.

“In my paintings, I manipulate images to convey imagined stories. By reimagining the subject, I have the freedom to apply my own sense of composition, values, and vibrant colors to create the drama of each scene. Utilizing Photoshop, I experiment with the design intricacies of landscapes and animals. I paint to enrich the narrative. This blend of reality and fantasy challenges me to explore my painting style and concepts, allowing me to convey the atmosphere and meaning within each piece.”

**Artistic Mission:** To create works that celebrate Canada’s wild, natural spaces and its inhabitants.

Carole is also a dedicated educator who shares her love for art through teaching. Her unique talent as a teacher stems from her ability to combine technology with a well-developed, broad understanding of art tools, alongside a refined creative process.

Finn has recently relocated full-time to the west coast of Vancouver Island and is now based in Oak Bay, Victoria, and Sooke, BC. Her artworks are available for viewing and purchase at Art Atelier on Horne Rd in Sooke and can be viewed by appointment.
